Pattern Tester Information

UPDATE: The Pattern Testing positions are currently filled. There may be additional openings in the future.

I’m looking for a few good pattern testing partners for a couple of upcoming quilts (and maybe more quilts in the future). I’m designing two Christmas quilts that I’m hoping to release in July and September that I would like to have some pattern testing help with this summer.

Pattern 1 - Large Wreath

This is the first pattern. It still needs a title. It’s 76” x 76” but there will also be a wall-hanging and a king-size version. As you can see, it’s entirely made of LeMoyne Star blocks. There aren’t any Y seams, so it’s fairly straight-forward, and I will provide testers with an acrylic template for cutting the diamond shapes. I’ll have the pattern ready for testing by early June, and the testing period will run until about mid July. I’m shooting to release this one by the end of July.

Pattern 2 -Multi Wreaths

This is the second pattern-still working on a name for this one, too. It will be available in various sizes. It’s made of 12” blocks, and again, I’ll provide an acrylic template for the diamond shape in the star block. I’m shooting to have this pattern ready for testing in early to mid-July, and the testing period will run until about mid/late August. I’d like to release this quilt at the first of September.

Pattern Tester Requirements

Finish quilt (or quilt top) in allotted time.

Provide honest and helpful feedback on the pattern. All questions and comments on any aspect of the pattern are welcomed.

Submit good quality, well-lit photos of completed quilt or well-pressed quilt top to me (phone photos are fine). Photos of sewing progress (fabric pulls, completed blocks, etc.) are welcome, too.

At the agreed-upon time, generally 1-2 weeks before pattern release date, begin posting about the quilt and testing process on Instagram, tagging Shadow Valley Quilts.

Pattern Tester Perks

At the end of the testing process you will receive a thank you gift and a finalized pattern in your choice of paper or PDF format.

I will promote your Instagram account and repost your testing posts.

You will be a part of a fun and supportive testing group.

My current and future pattern library will be open to you free of charge. If you’re interested, you may request one PDF pattern at a time to sew and post about. I’ll promote these posts the same as your testing posts.

I will longarm quilt (E2E) any quilt you make from one of my patterns for a 15% discount. If you’d like me to quilt a pattern you’re testing, let me know ASAP, so we can arrange our schedules to make sure it’s done in time for the pattern release.
